A major pipeline explosion in Helena, Alabama has happened. It is owned by Colonial Pipelines & it is reported that & people were injured. The explosion took place around 2:30pm & is located outside of Birmingham. The reporter is Ian Hoppe & He also recorded this. i recorded it off of Facebook live when he was broadcasting it............ Apparent gas line explosion rocks Helena, Alabama HELENA, Ala. — At least five people are reported injured after what’s being described as an explosion in rural Alabama. Details are sketchy, but video from area media shows a huge plume of flame and smoke rising in what appears to be a wooded area in Shelby County southwest of Birmingham. It’s unclear what exploded, but gas lines run through the area. Helena police confirmed on Twitter that there was an explosion, and said no residents are in danger. There has been an explosion in Shelby County Jurisdiction. No Helena residents are in any danger. According to Helena Mayor Mark Hall, Colonial Pipeline crews were working on a line that exploded. There was no leak, and it is not related to the previous pipeline gas leak from a few months back, WIAT reported. Several fire departments are sending crews to assist. A pipeline leaked thousands of gallons of gas southwest of Birmingham near Helena, but there’s no immediate indication of a connection between the leak and the fire.
